Before / After
The female breast is made of glandular tissue, fatty tissue and connective tissue. The breasts start developing when a woman reaches adolescence and continue their development until she is around 17 – 18 years of age, though changes in size and shape often occur later on as a result of biological and hormonal changes in the woman’s body. The breasts usually swell and become fuller and bigger a short while before each menstruation period, due to the effects of estrogen and progesterone. During pregnancy and lactation, the breast gains even more volume, becoming firmer and perkier. When lactating, the breast swells, becomes dense and secretes milk, but as soon as lactation ends the breast decreases in size and its appearance changes altogether. When a woman enters menopause, the breast loses volume, begins to sag and loses its vitality. Breast size is also heavily affected by weight gain and weight loss.
